Action Packed 2020 Calendar Released
Willowbank Raceway has released a packed calendar of events planned for the 2020 year beginning with the New Year’s Thunder on January 4th. This will be the first of three 400 Thunder Professional Drag Racing Series events headlined by the Top Fuel category with the Santo’s Super Thunder set for Good Friday April 10 and the championship deciding Gulf Western Oil Winternationals now expanded to five days from June 3 to 7. To cope with racer demand, the Winters Warmup testing has also been extended and will now run over three days from May 29 to 31.
While the New Year’s Thunder and Santo’s Super Thunder will see 400 Thunder Sportsman categories contesting split rounds all brackets will come together at the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals. Willowbank Raceway will also host the Sportsman Thunder event in September as Round Two of the 2020-21 Championship Series.
The Queensland Drag Racing Championships will again be contested over seven rounds stretching from February to October with the Grand Final featuring the addition of the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars once more.
The Garrett Advancing Motion Jamboree will be celebrating its 30th running on August 22-23 at what is sure to be a landmark edition of the iconic event.
The Archers Smash Repairs Street Series will feature seven qualifying events with the eight finalists in Street Sedan, Bikes and Powderpuff going through to the final shootouts. ‘Off the Street’ enthusiasts and competition racers alike will also have 32 Test n Tune events spread across the year to take part in.
A large range of specialist events are also catered for including three Kenda Radial events, the Nostalgia Drags, four Diesel Assault events, Mopar Sunday, the All Ford Day and All Bike Day. The huge Queensland Autospectacular car show is moving to the May Day long weekend to become a key component of a new major festival in Ipswich
