CEO's Note

Welcome to December and the end of 2015! 

We are now well and truly into the stormy time of the year and whilst some of the lightning shows we’ve had at the track have been spectacular, the 'r' word that often comes with them has been less welcome.

Otherwise, this is a great time of the year – people are thinking about friends and family and looking forward to a break and no doubt some fun over the Christmas / New Year period. We’re no different here at Willowbank and we’ll close the office on Friday December 18th, to re-open on Monday January 4th.

It is also the time of year that we recognise the best racers for the season at Willowbank. You’ll be able to read more on our recent awards evening elsewhere in this newsletter. It is always positive to get together with a wide group of successful racers such as those who were at the awards evening – there is no doubt that drag racing is in many ways a big family and such evenings really remind us all of that. Congratulations to all of the winners, commiserations to the racers who didn’t quite get there this year, and thank you to all for spending some time with us to recognise the champions.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those without whom we could not deliver – our volunteer officials, staff, sponsors and our volunteer Board. Without this varied group of committed people, Willowbank could simply not be run successfully. Our history is one of volunteer and racer involvement, dedication and selflessness and long may that continue, it is the core that makes Willowbank Raceway such a special place.

On a personal note, I wish all of you, your families and friends a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
