August 2015 CEO Note
Welcome to our August Newsletter,
We’ve had plenty going on over the last month or so with more to come over the next few months. Some of the highlights for me included the All Ford Day – with just under 1,000 Fords on display and over 4,000 spectators, this is a huge event and one that we really enjoy running with the Falcon GT Owners Club of Qld – great atmosphere and a fantastic way to spend a Sunday.
Our Nostalgia Drags drew a good crowd, had some great racing and featured some awesome cars and bikes in the show ’n shine – we have some exciting plans under development for this event and we’ll have more for you on that soon.
Lastly, whilst not a public event, we had our officials day during the month – this is a Sunday where our hard-working officials come and enjoy the race track that they spend the rest of the year working around. These days are a really relaxed, enjoyable experience and a reminder that Willowbank really is a big family and that there are so many people who put so much hard work and dedication into making our events and our track what they are.
Of course, we aren’t lifting our foot off the throttle for the coming month, with 2 rounds of the Queensland Drag Racing Championships, Jamboree and the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars all running at Willowbank during August and September.
The QDRC is great racing with plenty of committed racers in close competition running their cars & bikes hard – if you haven’t experienced a QDRC round, do yourself a favour and come have a look.
Jamboree is back on August 29th and is a massive day of racing, fun and displays with something for everyone – not to be missed. The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny cars are part of a huge weekend at Willowbank Raceway and the Ipswich motorsport Precinct as we have Lights Out Grudge Racing on Friday night, The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars on Saturday night and Powercruise running right across the weekend next door at Queensland Raceway.
We’re working on our 2016 calendar at the moment and we should have that our for you over the next couple of months – there’s some exciting things coming up!
