Willowbank Raceway - General News: FERGUSON LEADS SUPER STREET TO IRONBARK RACEWAY FOR EIGHTH MILE FESTIVITIES

FERGUSON LEADS SUPER STREET TO IRONBARK RACEWAY FOR EIGHTH MILE FESTIVITIES

20 July 2015

When round three of the 2015 JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series heads to Ironbark Raceway on 1 August, Nick Ferguson will be one to watch as the St George racer leads the John William Auto Sales Super Street field to the Roma facility.

Ferguson has only been racing for 14 months, but has been leading the points standings for the Super Street bracket within the 2015 Eighth Mile Series – his rookie season in the Series - since the get-go.

“The Eighth Mile Series has been unfolding for me well so far – with competing at the previous two rounds in Warwick and at Ipswich I have been very fortunate to have everything go well, with the car running great and trouble-free,” said the mechanic and workshop owner who will celebrate his 40th birthday in August.

“Whilst winning the series isn’t the reason I am doing the Series it would be a huge honour to continue doing as well as I am.

“The aim is on trying to remain consistent with my times and have fun. I have been gaining many new friends and talking to many helpful and friendly people, so I want to keep that happening and keep a good attitude – it isn’t all about winning, it is about having fun.

“As my home track, there is a good advantage for me to be racing at Ironbark Raceway for the latest round of the Series – I am familiar with the track and have been racing on it since I started – but having said that there are so many different scenarios that can happen on the day.”

Ferguson will be at the wheel of a 1978 Holden HZ Kingswood when the JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series comes to Ironbark Raceway.

“I purchased the car as a bare shell to build from the ground up. Many hours of work went into the car, I did what I could and sourced professionals for the items I couldn’t while speaking to many experts as to what to put under the bonnet. The original idea was for it to be a street and show vehicle, but the drag racing idea came along afterwards and I haven’t looked back,” said Ferguson, who is supported on-track by his own business Nick’s Fix It Au·         JP Racing - Series Sponsor
