EIGHTH MILE SERIES SET TO RETURN TO WILLOWBANK RACEWAY IN 2015

18 December 2014

The management of the JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series has confirmed that in 2015 – its sixth year – Willowbank Raceway will once again play host to the popular grassroots drag racing venture.

Willowbank Raceway will host the second round of the 2015 Series, which will also travel to Warwick Dragway, Benaraby Raceway Gladstone, and Ironbark Raceway Roma across the year.

In 2014, the Series introduced a new bracket for supercharged, nitrous and turbo-powered race cars, with the FG Loy and Sons Earthmoving Eighth Mile Outlaws to return in 2015 alongside the RD Williams Excavator Parts Modified, Ice Slushee Super Sedan, John William Auto Sales Super Street, Queensland Nameplate Group Modified Bike and Diamond T Products Junior Dragster categories.

Like all of the bracket sponsors, 2014’s naming rights partner JP Racing has again signed on for the 2015 season - which will see the Series carry the performance equipment business’ name for the third year running.

“This will be the third year for JP Racing as the major sponsor of the Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series and I couldn’t be happier with the relationship so far,” said JP Racing’s John Payne.

“The new outlaw bracket, encompassing blown, turbo and nitrous-powered race cars is really gaining popularity, and the introduction of double points at the final round of the year in 2014 was a real game changer, encouraging racers to travel and put in a big effort to win the fantastic prizes on offer.

“I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store. After a 30 year involvement in drag racing I still get a kick out of presenting trophies to our achievers, and especially to the Junior racers. It is an encouraging sign for the future of our sport to see them moving up the brackets as they chase their racing dreams.

“All I can say is bring on the 2015 JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series – let’s burn rubber on the track and have a great time!”
Series organiser John Winterburn said he was pleased to confirm the 2015 Series dates following five successful years for the grassroots racing Series.

“We are so excited to be able to confirm the details for the sixth-running of the JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series, and to once again be able to welcome back all of our category sponsors and our naming rights sponsor for yet another year,” said Winterburn.
“We couldn’t do this without their support and the support of the racers, the tracks and the officials who have gotten behind this Series year after year – we can’t wait to see what 2015 will bring.”

Kicking off at Warwick Dragway on 21 February, the series will then head to Willowbank Raceway on 25 April for round two. Ironbark Raceway will then host round three on 1 August before the final round gets going at Benaraby Raceway on 26 September 2014.
