QUEENSLAND STREET CAR MAGAZINE EIGHTH MILE SERIES CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT IRONBARK RACEWAY

The final round of the Queensland Street Car Magazine 2011 Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series was held at western Queensland’s Ironbark Raceway on the weekend.
With a good line up of competitors across the six brackets, many of which saw the championship chase go down to the wire, rider and drivers set the track alight on their way to some blistering times across the eighth-mile.
In the battle of the youngsters it was Matthew Barron who finished up on top to take the win in the Diamond T Products Junior Dragster bracket over Jesse Skinner. However the roles were reversed for the Overall Series winner with Skinner winning the series over Barron,
Andrew Pinkstone took out the RD Williams Modified Bracket over Josh Leahy and Pinkstone gathered enough points to take out the Overall Series award with Athol Jacobson the runner up.
There was some great rivalry in the JP Racing Super Sedan Bracket between two keen racers Darren Doeblien and Scott Sorrenson. Doeblien took out both the round win and also the Series win with Sorrenson the runner up in both also.
A large contingent or Super Street racers contested the John William Auto Sales Super Street Bracket with David Olsen coming out on top over Anthony Stover. Stover hung on by only a half a point to take out the overall Series Win from David Olsen. This was Stover’s second Series win.
The FJ Loy and Sons Earthmoving Bracket was an all local affair with Randal Mohr taking the win over Garth Fitzgerald. Mohr also took out the Series Win with Fitzgerald taking out the runner up place.
In the two-wheeled brigade Michael Beaton proved too good for new comer Wayne Smith in the Queensland Nameplate Group Modified Bike bracket and Beaton went on to take out the Series Win over Richie Patterson.
