IRONBARK RACEWAY TO HOST FINAL ROUND OF EIGHTH MILE SERIES

The fourth and final round of the Queensland Street Car Magazine South Queensland Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series will hit Roma’s Ironbark Raceway on Saturday 24th September.
The annual series now in its second year has taken the sportsman drag racing series by storm in 2011 and local drag racer Athol Jacobson – leading the Modified bracket heading into this month’s final – is just one of in excess of 100 racers expected to hit the track next weekend.
The Roma local is leading the points following strong performances over the course of the series including a win at the second round at Warwick and now leads the standings by 12 points.
Warwick’s Andrew Loy is also in this R D Williams sponsored Modified bracket with a great chance while all tracks have strong representation going into an exciting final.
Currently leading the series title points are Loughlin Boyd (FJ Loy & Sons Classic Bracket), Athol Jacobson (R D Williams Excavator Parts Modified Bracket), Dylan Leo (Diamond T Products Junior Dragster Bracket ), Richie Paterson (Queensland Nameplate Group Modified Bike Bracket ), Darren Doeblien (JP Racing Super Sedan Bracket) and Rob Price(John William Auto Sales Super Street Bracket ).
The Grand Finale comes after three rounds of racing, starting at Willowbank Raceway back in February, followed by round two at Warwick in May and Benaraby round three in July. The Grand Final is hosted by each track on a rotational basis year by year.
Special Winner and Runner-Up trophies will be available for each bracket at each round, with the Grand Finals to see a special Winner trophy plus $750 prize money awarded to the highest point scorer of each bracket, and a special Runner-Up trophy and $250 go to the second highest point scorer of each bracket.
