DOORSLAMMER STAR TRIUMPHS AT PRO STREET SHOOTOUT

ANDRA Pro Series star Ben Bray punctuated the Pro Street Shootout winners list at Willowbank Raceway at the weekend, taking victory in the popular APSA Outlaw 10.5 category during the Australian Pro Street Association event.
Bray took the win from fellow track regular and local Tony Wedlock, with the Doorslammer regular’s Toyota Celica punching out a 6.764 second pass at 207.15 miles per hour to beat Wedlock’s Toyota Aurion (7.093 seconds at 193.32mph) to the end of the quarter mile.
Also taking to the track, and taking victory, were Craig Hewitt in Pro Street Blown, Matt Marsh in Pro Street Unblown, Joe Gauci in Staunch Supplements Modified Street Blown, Geoff Campbell in Modified Street Unblown, Shane Baker in Monster Car Club True Street Blown, Grant Hughes in True Street Unblown, Rob Bertolacci in Outlaw Radial and Jason Stoodley in the Willowbank Raceway Dial Your Own bracket.
Modified Street Blown racer and co-owner of the Australian Pro Street Association Johnny Wilson heralded the event a great success.
“To have over 100 competitors here on race day, including the new class of True Street Blown, was something we were really happy about,” said Wilson.
“Pro Street is just growing from strength to strenth at the moment and the racing at the weekend was testament to that, it was a great weekend, with many hard fought battles across all of the brackets providing thrills for racers and spectators alike.
“While I might not have won in my bracket (Wilson was runner-up to categoriy winner Joe Gauci), I can definitely call this event a great success, and we are rearing to go for the rest of the APSA championship series."

While the 2011 Pro Street Shootout is now run and won, the action continues at Willowbank Raceway, with less than two weeks until the Top Fuel Championships - including ANDRA Pro Series racing for Top Fuel, Top Bike and Pro Stock Motorcycle - hit the Ipswich quarter-mile across March 25 and 26.
Tickets for the Top Fuel Championships are available now through www.willowbankraceway.com.au and start at just $35 for adults per day, with students with ID gaining a discounted entry. Children 13 and under gain free entry to the event, which will kick off on Friday March 25 at 4.00pm with qualifying, including ANDRA Pro Series qualifying at 5.00pm, 7.00pm and 9.00pm. Saturday March 26 will see the on-track action get underway from 11.00am, with ANDRA Pro Series racing from 5.00pm and finals for all categories including the Pro racers from 8.30pm (all times approximate and subject to change)
While March is full of action, April also has its own fun to offer, with the all-new Queensland Auto Spectacular to be held at Willowbank Raceway on Sunday April 10.
